After former frontman Syd Barrett left the psychedelic rockers rudderless, they gradually found a collective focus by , with bassist Roger Waters handling the concepts and lyrics , guitarist David Gilmour and Rick Wright contributing musical ideas and vocals and drummer Nick Mason maintaining a steady beat while messing with brain-tickling sound effects.
